The weather this past weekend was absolutely phenomenal! Perfect weather for a engagement shoot … with one exception! The Blue Nose Marathon. Being the great little team of creative collaborators we are though we found some amazing places well away from the crowds and as you can see took some pretty amazing photos! Enjoy!

Rain or no rain we were getting the job done! I’ve been away in New York City for the past week and came home to an e-mail from Shannon asking if we could get their engagement photos done. With just a little over a month away from their wedding we needed to move fast! Rain and snow where no match for my camera and their cuteness. Engagement are always a blast for us, we get to know the couple better and they get to know us of course. Watch over the next few months for some amazing engagement shoots…less in the rain we hope.

Here are two cool cats with a whole lot of life!  Meet Adam and Chelle, Adam plays in a band and Chelle is an aspiring photographer who just finished a degree at NSCAD!

When these two came to us and wanted to do engagement photos they had just starting all the plans do their big day so, we booked the pre-wedding set to get the ball rolling and it was a blast! They even brought along a little furry friend… a fuzzy caterpillar who just had to be a part of the photos. He eventually found a leaf he liked better then Chelle’s cozy sweater and thats when we decided some jumping was in order

Between bright yellow caterpillars and bright yellow shoes I’d sad they were a most colorful couple.. good luck you guys!! Its going to be an awesome ride!

I’ve met the occasional wedding couple who will come to me to speak photography but sometimes just don’t see them selves in my photos. Be it the price, the place or even the shot, they just can’t see them in the photos. I have to say that it is one of the most important things about wedding photography, well any photography really. You need to be able to see your self in those places, in those poses and looking just damn good.

That’s actually the secret to great photos, no really it is! I can position the light where ever I like, change the depth of field to what ever I please. But if you don’t want to be there in that photo looking absolutely fantastic then that photo is going to turn into trash.

My photos turn out great because I have great clients. They are fun, exciting and just a little bit crazy…just like me I guess. Mark and Tina are no exception of course! We drove up to the valley where they live, ate smoked salmon off the BBQ and had an amazing home cooked meal before going out to shoot.

Did I ever mention I love my job?

Another fantastic shoot with a fantastic couple! Of course because I only shoot with the most fantastic of people…

Clint and April had a special tree in a special park under a special sky in which he popped the big question. Obviously we headed back there to take a few quick photo and get to know them better. They even brought us muffins? Now come on, how much better can that be?

After checking out their tree we took a little stroll and it was clear to see that this couple was excited to get married because they could not keep their hands off each other. Next time we will have t bring alog a little spray bottle.

I am pumped to shoot their wedding on Saturday…mmm maybe they will have more muffins.

I love doing engagement photos, its the first chance for you as a photographer to really get to know the happy couple. It is a chance to meet them outside of a coffee shop, outside of that social setting, outside of any sort of restrictions. It’s just you and them doing your thing, they get to be their true selves and have fun with it.

We met Erika and Todd a little while back over coffee to discuss their wedding and the big plans they had made. Their wedding is sounding like an absolute blast! It is taking place on a boat! In the harbour and the formals and journalistic photos will be taken on dry land (if they are lucky).

Before you know it, the big day is here. Kelly and Mich where the first wedding I booked for the 2009 season, almost a year ago. What a great couple and I have the honour of shooting their wedding tomorrow morning bright and early!

Also, we were thinking of doing some shots with props to reflect our “weird” side, you up for that? it will pretty much just be luchador masks and fake mustaches? Is that ok?

Can you tell I am excited about shooting this wedding?!

And sorry for the delay in updating. I had some laptop issues this past week. Definitely gone out to buy a backup system for the future. I learned the hard way that coffee and laptops do not get along, i thought they would be friends, but I guess not.
