Newlan Family Portraits! | Halifax Wedding Photography
I have always believed that family portraits belong outdoors. Except when it’s freezing outside and very very wet. Then of course you need to go indoors. Well here we are in lovely Febuary weather in Halifax Nova Scotia…and sometimes you just need to go in doors!

Shooting for the sake of shooting
The past month or so I’ve been doing an awful lot of business administrative work and not a lot of shooting. Now the administrative work does need to get done or I’d never get paid and sadly would starve to death, but it’s not exactly fun or creative. T accounts this, Tax that, blah blah blah. Not my idea of a good time. So I’ve been trying to spend more time doing personal creative work and some adventures. Last posted high lighted a night with some great wedding photographers. I am of course still doing family photos, portraits, and other shoots but you still need to keep the creative juices flowing! This time of year you can often feel bleak and gray and being in a creative industry thats not exactly productive.
Well yesterday I went out with some other great photo minded people and drove around the country side to see what we could see. We didn’t find a whole lot driving down towards Chester, and every single time we got out of the car the snow seemed to double. It was a great day none the less, hoping we can do this more in the future as well. Take a look at what I had captured before running back to the car and my warm coffee.
“Babes” on bikes!
I’m off to Cape Breton for another wedding tomorrow. I’ve been to Cape Breton a total of five times this past summer shooting a variety of weddings, environmental portraits and just generally going on a variety of adventures.
I have to say this past summer has been pretty amazing for me and Karen. We shot in total 17 weddings, 24 family portraits, five child portraits all the while running the studio which has been incredibly busy for the summer months and living our lives. Things have been pretty great.
I still have three weddings left to the 2009 wedding year, but tomorrow I view as the last wedding of the wedding season. I am looking for the short period of Sept to take a break, vegetate a little and just generally decompress from the go go go pace we have been living.
In the mean time while I pack for the trip I leave you with Aiden. Last weekend we had the opportunity to hang out with this little guy. He loves bikes as you can see, there is no doubting that.
